Sophia’s Journey to Florence

It was Sophia’s first trip to Florence, but it wouldn’t be her last.

The city was hauntingly familar to her.

She remembered the pageantry of the Medici, the smells and sounds of the bustling marketplace, the exchange of florins for fine woolens, armor, and wild game.

She remembered the devastation of the city by the plague and the invasions of the Spanish and the French.

She even remembered the location of the ancient secret passageway to her lover Marco. Sophia felt a yearning for him, even still.

Inspired by my 15th century Italian epic period piece script “The Eternal Flame” set in Tuscany and Florence Italy.
