Going Bananas

I just can’t resist a challenging, playful set of words.

Here’s a whimsical story that I wrote just for fun using Diane’s challenging diverse group of words… just having a bit of fun here…

Diane’s wonderful chosen words:

banana, shoes, chimpanzee, spoon, lip stick, camembert, fighter plane, snow shoes, dictionary, underwear, flan, camel, coconut palm, fishing rod, cards, Bryan, Paul, Diane, Dominique

The story that I wrote using Diane’s words:

“Going Bananas”

it was the height of the party season
and if you played your cards right
you received an invite
to the hottest ticket in town
Bryan’s Birthday Bash
the partygoers were hanging from the rafters
Bryan and Paul leapt up and grabbed onto a blade of the spinning ceiling fan
for an airborne ride
it spun them out and around and around
like a fighter plane chasing its tail in the sky
the house was a mess
clothing, household items, and even a few random fishing rods were strewn everywhere
they all became props for their wild mess of fun
Diane smeared some red lipstick across her lips and across the wall
Dominique hurled shoes from a stack this way and that
the birthday cake was a camel colored jiggling lump of flan
Bryan poured coconut palm juice on top
he hurled the spoons across the room and ate the flan with his hands
Paul put a pair of underwear on his head and walked across the floor in snow shoes
Dominique ran out of shoes so he turned to a dictionary ripping out each page
bunching each one up and throwing the wads across the room
Diane got hungry so she ate a package of camembert
she didn’t bother to remove the wrapper
she didn’t want to get involved with the fight of Bryan and Paul
each trying to eat the last remaining banana
in the end they all made up and made nice
Bryan and Paul picking the fleas out of each other’s hair and eating them
after all it was the polite thing to do
since Bryan and Paul were chimpanzees
and Diane and Dominique baboons

p.s. – don’t try this at home, even if you are a baboon or a chimpanzee
