the other Alice

Here’s a story that I wrote for Etsy’s Trendsetting Treasury Team’s 74th Scavenger Hunt Game.  The purpose of the game is to make a Treasury, choosing one picture to represent each word.

I love taking it a step further and also write a story all the 15 chosen words.

These were Carice’s wonderful words:

Curious, Queen, Tea, Hat, Golden, Garden, Heart, Lion, Unicorn, Looking glass/ mirror, Grin, Rose, Playing cards, Chess, Wonderland

Here’s the story that I wrote using all of Carice’s 15 chosen words:

The other Alice

she was always curious about
the story
the one she was always compared to
because of her name
but she didn’t want to read it
she didn’t want to be influenced
she wanted to write her own tale
she wanted to find her own truths
she wanted to gaze upon the mirror of her soul
hidden so deeply within her heart
she had heard snippets of the other tale
something about an evil queen
a rabbit and a hat

Alice 1A
it was a cloudy Sunday afternoon
when it first happened
she was attending high tea in the rose garden
when she felt the oddest shiver of a breeze
it was as if her name was whispered within it
she looked around
no one else seemed to hear it
the old ladies were engrossed in playing cards
the men enjoying their large cigars
and calling out bets on the game of chess

alice 1B

the sun peered out  from a hole in the heavens up above
its golden rays glittering as the breezed pulled
apart the sky
cloud by cloud
she saw a lion roar
she saw a unicorn dance
she saw a large extended toothy grin
and she knew she would soon have an adventure

alice 2A
she just didn’t know exactly when
she knew she would reach that curious fanciful world
that was her very own private
wonderland

alice 3A

Here’s where the words are:
