Here’s Andrea’s 15 Winning Words and the Winner’s Custom Story….

Andrea’s wonderful 15 words:

yellow, pale, dusk, sorrow, serenity, simplicity, bone, magic, subtlety, quiet, feather, river, rock, memory, hint

the custom story that I wrote, using Andrea’s words:

“the journey”

she loved to sit by the river in the pale lingering light of dusk
as the yellow rays of the sun turned golden
there was something about that moment in time
something about the quiet subtlety of the transition as the day slipped into night
that left her breathless
listening to the water flow in the darkness
she was filled with a great calm
she found a serenity in the simplicity of it
she easily slipped into a quiet meditative state at those times
it was a pathway that she found
into the magic of her mind
to explore the portals to her past lives
sometimes the memory would start with an object
a bone tossed down a dirt road chased by black and white dog ,
a feather woven into large headdress,
a rock turned up from a plow pulled by oxen,
sometimes the memory would begin with feeling
the intense love she felt for her first born child
the deep sorrow for a husband lost at sea
memories that gave a hint of
times and places that she had lived
times and places that she had loved
and just as the river would lull her
into the portals of the past
into her deepest fragments of forgotten memories
it would bring her back safely onto its shore
back to the sounds of the rushing river
and to the moon which had risen so quietly above
but this time something was different
this time she awoke to the sound
of the sea crashing
and gulls crying
the early sun was rising
and someone was calling out to her
but it was not
her name
