the brownies

..this week’s words came from Christine in the 44th Peppermint Creek Collective Scavenger Hunt….

…here’s Christine’s chosen 15 words: beans, yellow pair, dinner, creaking, wood, tin, Mostly Good, lived, clothes, putting things away, remembering, twinklings and twinges, beads, vases, fringes

……and here’s the “story snippet” that I wrote using her chosen words…..can you find where each word is located in the tale?….

“the brownies”

she always knew
when they were coming
she would feel
the twinklings and twinges
long before
it was time for bed

B1

she’d make
a tiny pot of beans
for their dinner
remembering to leave
a string of colorful beads
for them to wear
carefully arranging
a yellow pair of roses from the garden
in their very favorite vase

B2

they were mostly good
sometimes naughty
but even their mischief
was mixed with a bit of fun
they were very helpful
in putting things away
neatly ironing
her wrinkled clothes
sometimes she heard
creaking on the wood floor
or a bit of banging
on an overhang of tin
of the garden shed

B3

but she was never able
to see them
quick and agile
they lived
on the fringes of awareness
just beyond
the tip of
her nose
just beyond
the edges
of her sight
