….I’ve been very busy lately but found a bit of time to write this story snippet….

….the words came from Paula in the Peppermint Creek Collective’s Scavenger Hunt Game….

……’s Paula’s wonderful 15 chosen words: Canada, tree, candle, fairy, child, laugh, tea, rain, peace, sound, leather, sun, Celtic, beautiful, wish…

…………..and here’s the story snippet that I wrote using Paula’s words…………………

she was always
deeply in touch
with the magic in her life
as a small child
she saw the tiny light beings
called fairies at play
their silly antics
always made her laugh

she always felt a sacred reverence
in the powerful peaceful presence
of the majestic grove of oak trees
with trunks
far up
to the heavens
silent stately witnesses
to the passage of time

she always felt deeply connected
to the natural cycles of the earth
and the changes of each season
the final turning point of
the winter solstice
was the most profound one of all
as the sun
and turned away
from its descent into darkness
heading back
toward the light

she always made a silent sacred wish
at that time
at the very end of the longest stretch of darkness
and lit a candle
to honor
and celebrate
the triumph of the light

and at that moment in time
as she sipped the warmth of her tea
as the rain pattered and plopped outside
as the Canadian Geese honked overhead in flight
as she touched the cover of her well worn leather journal
and paused to reach deep within
to listen
in that moment
she could hear the whispered echoes
of an ancient Celtic lifetime
that she lived
a very long, long time ago
