…this week, the words came from Paula in the Peppermint Creek Collective’s Scavenger Hunt Game…..

…here’s Paula’s choice chosen 15 words: royal, spring, beach, plant, baby, valentine, knit, size, watercolor, arch, cozy, cinnamon, sunrise, study, angel…..

…..and here’s the story snippet that I wrote using her words…..

ever since she was a baby
she knew she was royalty
she moved around the study
as if she owned it
planting herself in front of the
large watercolor
with seabirds scattered across a beach
she sized it up for hours on end
it was so real
she felt if she looked away
for just one moment
the birds might take flight

she loved to spring across the hardwood floor
crash landing on the knit rug
if she hit it just right
it would slide across the floor

she loved to rub against
the large wooden angel
it smelled faintly of cinnamon and vanilla
perhaps it was the angel
perhaps it was the shampoo they used on her

when they were around
they would always call out
it was a bit repetitive
but the sooner
she would look at them
the sooner
they would stop

she loved to
leap into her favorite cozy chair
and stretch in a long lazy lingering arch
before settling down
into the darkness of the
early morning hours
to await the first glimmers
of the sunrise
contented, warm and safe
she couldn’t help
but purr
