finding home

….this week the words came from Beth in the Peppermint Creek Collective’s Scavenger Hunt Game….

…..Here are Beth’s lovely words: slow, bloom, river, joy, green, old, direction, style, elegant, balance, echo, metal, fire, fly, charm….

………and here’s the story snippet that I wrote using her words……

“finding home”

life moved more
in this place
the blooms lingered longer
on the deep green vines
and the river
took it’s time
winding it’s way
through the woods

people stopped to talk to her
when they gave her directions
and there was an elegant style
to the charming old houses
with front porches
where neighbors sat and spent time
talking long into the night
watching sparkling clusters of fire flies
and the moon rise

she found
she was able to pause
and to finally breathe here
her sense of balance
soon returned
and a delight in the simple joys
of each day

as the city’s echo of the click clack
of subway metal
faded away
she knew
she finally had found
her home
