the elusive muse

….this week, I couldn’t resist Paula’s lovely words chosen for the Peppermint Creek Scavenger Hunt Game….

Here’s the wonderful alliteration of Paula’s L words: lush, leaf, lean, leak, leap, lust, lemon, aloof, lily, lavender, lips, luck, little one, languish, lift

……..and here’s the story snippet that I was inspired to write using each word….

“the elusive muse”

she could feel
their presence
the cluster of words were
almost there
almost appearing
on the tip of her lips….

almost.

em1

as she languished
in the wee hours of the morning

leaning against her desk
with her pen

lifted

poised upon a single leaf
of her well worn
well loved journal

waiting

for the words to flow
but not even

one

drip

not even

one

drop

of prose
would leak out
onto the blank page

em2

the little one
was playfully elusive

the little one
was somewhat aloof

in the early morning hour

so she
simply

let go

of the struggle
of the strain

of the push
of the pull

and she wandered

out

into the peaceful

hush

of her lush green
garden

lit by a sliver

of silvery
moonlight

em3

she passed by the tart refreshing scent of the lemon tree
and as she stopped to pause
at a clump of calm lavender
her luck turned
and the muse revealed herself

in one

lusty

leap

from patch of lilies
and the words began
to pour forth
once again
